David Helfgott plays in Cadogan Hall

Shine pianist live in London

13 October 2018, 7.30pm

Cadogan Hall

5 Sloane Terrace

London SW1X 9DQ

Immortalised by Geoffrey Rush’s Oscar-winning performance in the heart-breaking movie ‘Shine’, David Helfgott is one of today’s most recognisable pianists on the international stage. His loyal audiences worldwide respond to his unique style of performing as to no other artist, celebrating with him in his concert-making his triumph over adversity to become one of the most successful pianists of his generation.

Helfgott’s personality and stage performance, much like the eccentric Glenn Gould before him, sweep away dusty cobwebs from the sometimes stuffy world of classical music, inspiring young and old to experience music as a potent, life-changing, personal force.

In this only his second London concert since his major world tour immediately following the success of Shine in 1996, Helfgott performs an intimate solo concert with repertoire from the great Romantic composers, with whom he so identifies.

“He’s a life force, and people draw strength from him.” (The Independent)

“He has brought classical music to a whole new audience of younger people, much as Pavarotti introduced the football fans of the world to opera.” (The Guardian)
