On 11 November 1918, the dream of generations of Poles came true: the Polish state was reborn. After 123 years of serfdom and partition, Poland was reinstated on the map of the world.

In 2018, the Greater London Authority (GLA) is working  with Polish community groups across the capital to commemorate these events and celebrate Poles who have made London their home over the last 100 years.

#MYLONDYN (which translates from Polish as “we are London”) curated by Jola Piesakowska Jackson and supported by the GLA, is an project celebrating 100 years of Poles in London, past and present.

#MYLONDYN 100 is a project working with Polish communities in London to source family snapshots and their stories, photographs taken in London of Polish Londoners from the past 100 years. These photographs will be uploaded and displayed in an online gallery on the GLA website.

In November 2018 the GLA will launch an exhibition #MYLONDYN at City Hall, where a selection of submitted photographs from each decade from a century of Poles in London will be displayed for 2 weeks in the public gallery space and then will be available for transfer.

‘We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with the Polish community to recognise and celebrate the contribution of Polish Londoners over the past 100 years’.
