Bridget Riley Studios

43 Dace Road

E3 2NG London

Unique opportunity to join crepe paper workshops run by an artist Anna Rulecka, who will visit London in May to run two workshops.

Based in Poland, she revives a forgotten art of paper flowers making -“bibułkarstwo” through her contemporary version of rites related to slavic wedding like "rozgowiny" (rozga making workshop) and "wienczyny" (wreath making workshop).

Her main interest in artistic practice is to enter into dialogue with Slavic roots, rites of passages and symbolic moments.

Join her “wianek” (paper flower head garland) workshop or “rozga” (paper flower twig) workshop.

More details here.

Paper flower head garland workshop
10am - 1pm

What's your favourite flower - peony, daisy or maybe rose?

During a workshop Anna will teach you how to make different types of paper flowers in both traditional and contemporary way. By the end of the workshop you will create your own kind of flower head garland with variety of flowers in any colours you like.

Handmade flower head wreath will be a perfect gift to your friend or loved one or to yourself to wear on your wedding day or summer festival. Otherwise you can just simply hang it on a wall as a beautiful decoration.

Rozga (paper flowers twig) workshop

2pm - 5pm

Unique opportunity to join contemporary version of "rózgowiny" (paper twig making evening) workshop.

Traditionally, the evening before the wedding, bridesmaids used to gather in bride's house to make her a "rózga" - paper flowers twig. Tree branch was decorated with paper flowers and ribbons. During the wedding "rozga" was carried by a best man and after a ceremony it was given to a bride as a symbolic rite of passage.

Anna will teach you how to make a traditional rozga but with a new, contemporary twist. It can take a shape of a paper bouquet tied with a ribbon or look more like a paper sculpture. As Anna says it will be your symbolical amulet.
