September 9th sees the three-day ARTeria Polish Art Festival in Borough. The three day event brings artists, musicians together to celebrate the finest culture the UK’s Polish community has to offer and aims to show the contribution Poles make to life in London and are part of a concerted effort by the organisers to show that Poles in the UK have more to offer than cleaning and building services.

Last year’s event saw over 1000 people attend and drew plaudits for the quality of art on display and the multicultural diversity of those in attendance. This year artists exhibiting include the multi-award winning Konrad Grabowski, Olga Sienko, Tomasz Stando, Paweł Kordaczka, winner of the Volksbank Young European Artist award. Musians appeaing include Jazz quartet Groove Razors, fresh from appearancrs at Ronnie Scott’s and Charlie Wright’s, a performance from noted folk singer Monika Lidke and multitalented guitarist Maciek Pysz. Visitors to the event can also dine on the best Polisg cusine and taste a little vibrant Polish atmosphere.

For over a year now ARTeria has been staging events celebrating the work and achievements of Polish artists resident in the UK, showcase the work of undiscovered talent and Polish culture to a wider audience and show what London's Poles have to offer the communities they inhabit.

Since then the festival, organised by London based Polish newspaper Nowy Czas, has been promoting cultural exchange and stimulating a social dialogue between a new generation of Polish artists, musicians, writers and intellectuals from different regions of Poland, now united in London. ARTeria provides an extremely vibrant platform for a creative community based in the city. Supported by the Polish Cultural Institute in London.
