Chopin’s entire oeuvre in all its elegance, poetry and brilliance is beheard in a series of recitals at Kings Place.
Chopin possessed an unrivalled knowledge of the piano and its possibilities. He was a great innovator, and exercised a decisive influence on composers of the French, German and Russian schools well into the 20th century. These recitals will give the listener the opportunity to look afresh at and re-evaluate the work of a composer who has enjoyed enormous and unflagging popularity for nearly 200 years. Many will be surprised by the quality of the unfamiliar works.
In the forthcoming third and final week of the Chopin Unwrapped series, pianist Martino Tirimo is joined by the Silesian String Quartet for chamber versions of all the works for piano and orchestra, including his much-loved concertos nos 1 & 2.
Chopin Unwrapped at Kings Place is an unprecedented survey of the complete music of Frédéric Chopin in a series curated by Martino Tirimo. This unique series, produced in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute, presents the composerʼs entire output including the chamber music, songs and piano concertos in chamber version. This extremely well received concert series began in February this year, with another week of concerts in March, and it is being recorded by Classic FM for broadcast.
