Stalwarts of the Scena Krakowska improvised music scene, DM&P Trio’s somewhat schizophrenic musical explorations are fuelled by a belief in the raw expression of extreme emotions and total creative freedom. Special emphasis is placed on the gestural electronic manipulation of live acoustic signals from the two saxophones. This process results in a highly unusual form of interaction that rejects phony aesthetic, cultural or social boundaries.

Paweł Dziadur (electronics/programming) and Philip Palmer (alto saxophone) first met while collaborating on the musical setting for an experimental drama production by Canadian writer and translator, Soren Gauger.

They were joined shortly afterwards by Sławek Maler, multi-instrumentalist, graphic artist and co-founder (with Paweł) of the Kraków-based visual intermedia art collective, the Reductionist Group.

The group were initially united by an interest in the energy of drum'n'bass and a fascination with the possibilities of computer programming technology and spontaneous improvisation. Later their interests broadened to encompass contemporary classical music and noise as a medium of expression.

A key aspect of their working methods is their reliance on innovative solutions in the music programming field. For several years now, Paweł has been constantly refining wave_attack, a self-designed computer application which enables him to improvise in real time through careful selection and transformation of live acoustic input. As this programme has increased in sophistication, the scope for creative expression expands exponentially presenting a bewildering yet strangely seductive array of potential creative paths.

DM&P have performed as a group and individuals with Noël Akchoté, Maria Chavez, Ray Dickaty, Attila Dora, Krzysztof Trzewiczek, Łukasz Kozak, Gergő Kovács, Jean-Hervé Péron, Zsolt Sőrés and Theme.

Their debut album, “Insular Dwarfism” (Audiotong, 2011) has received almost universally positive reviews.
