Cumbrian art-rock sextet British Sea Power provides the live soundtrack for this selection of classic Polish animations for this specially-commissioned seated performance, as part of the 15th Kinoteka Polish Film Festival.

Join them as they take us on a personal journey through their own favourites of Polish animated cinema, including Rybczyński’s Oscar-winning Tango, Szczechura’s ode to MC Escher, Journey, plus more.

The members of the band are no strangers to working with film. In 2012, they provided the sci-fi tinged soundtrack for Out of the Present, an account of cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev’s time in outer space, as well as scoring Man of Aran, Happiness and documentary From the Sea to the Land Beyond.

British Sea Power are:

Yan Scott Wilkinson – vocals/guitar
Neil Hamilton Wilkinson – vocals/bass/guitar
Martin Noble – guitar/keyboards
Matthew Wood – drums
Abi Fry – viola/keyboards
Phil Sumner – keyboards/cornet/guitar

This event coincides with the premiere of British Sea Power’s long-awaited new album, Let the Dancers Inherit the Party, which they will perform tracks from at Shepherds Bush empire on the 12 April.

Commissioned and co-produced by the Polish Cultural Institute in London and the Barbican.
