Danse McCabre was formed in 2003 and soon established itself as one of the premier ceilidh bands of the North-East, performing throughout Scotland and beyond, appearing in Norway, Poland, Slovenia and Holland. Famous for their pink kilts and lively style, this all-female band plays an eclectic mix of rip-roaring Scottish music with, some Irish and European music thrown into the mix. All the dances are clearly explained, demonstrated and walked through, so that a rollicking and enjoyable ceilidh experience is guaranteed, even for those who have never danced Scottish dances before. Shetland fiddle-player, Claire White, keyboard player Anne Taylor and whistle and bodhran player Helen Lynch will give you an evening to remember.

‘Lilies: a tale between worlds’

Saturday 3 November, 7pm
Aberdeen Arts Centre
33 King St, Aberdeen AB24 5AA
Tickets: £10, book online
Recommended age: 13+

Lilies: a tale between worlds is a multimedia performance by Lustro Sceny/Mirror of the Stage based on the popular Polish ballad by Adam Mickiewicz of the same title, kept in the style of Shakespeare’s bloody tragedy.

A murderess plants lilies on her victim’s grave. The blossoms stand for innocence, so she cannot cover her crime with them, breaking a natural order of things. The world of supernatural powers is mobilised to deal with the crime and punishment. Mysterious creatures populate this play, posing a question if it is possible to  trick justice. Get seduced by the magic and horror of the romantic theatre and dive into world of wonders. Unforgettable thrills guaranteed!
