Spain during Napoleon's Peninsula Campaign and dim-witted lothario Brigadier Gerard is given a mission to deliver a message across enemy territory. Battling against his nerves, an army and the amorous sights of the Countess of Morales the Brigadier haplessly attempts to complete his assignment. This film was programmed by Alan Warner, one of EIFF 2011’s guest curators.

The mysterious Crosseley Alan Bates insinuates himself into the quiet Devonshire lives of the young hospitable Fieldings (Susannah York and John Hurt), in this 1978 Cannes Grand Prix du Jury winner, only the second feature produced by legendary Brit Jeremy Thomas. Crossley’s claim of having learned from an aboriginal shaman a ‘terror shout’ that can kill instantly intrigues Anthony Fielding, an experimental composer. This film was programmed by Alan Warner, one of EIFF 2011’s guest curators.

Shy, awkward 15 year-old Mike has just started work at a public bathhouse and when not escaping from the clutches of over-sexed middle-aged women he lusts after fellow employee Susan. A calculating temptress, his obsession with her leads Mike on a downward spiral into the sordid world of porno theaters, swingers clubs, and the over consumption of hot dogs. This film was programmed by Alan Warner, one of EIFF 2011’s guest curators.
