Gate Picturehouse presents a one-off evening with film director Paweł Pawlikowski and a screening of Cold War, the film which won him the Best Director prize at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival. It is a film that plumbs the depths of love and paranoia in Poland of the late 40s as it sinks under the dark grip of the Stalinist terror. It is equally powerful on both personal and political levels.
Shot in black & white, the story steadily builds in tension and drama, pulling the viewer in with a stunning original soundtrack and cinematography that creates an elegant and understated visual landscape.
This is a fantastic occasion to see this universally acclaimed Polish-language film and talk to the director during the Q&A which follows. We warmly invite all who can make it to the Gate Picturehouse for this event.
