As part of the exhibition of Polish film posters at Cinéphilia West, running until the end of January 2010, please join us for a very special event focusing on some fascinating aspects of this important artistic tradition. David Crowley (Royal College of Arts) will reflect on the interests of Polish poster designers and animators of the 1960s including Jan Lenica, Walerian Borowczyk, Roman Cieslewicz and Jan Rybkowski in irrationalism and surrealism set against the context of official party-state ideology of progress; Andrzej Klimowski (poster artist/graphic designer) will then provide an informative insight into working with this art form for many decades, offering views both from the world of commission and practice as well as teaching and study. Many important examples of Polish poster art will be on display. More details on www.cinephilia.
